About me

Itziar Guzmán (Bilbao, 1975) has been dedicated to photography for two decades and has exhibited in several art galleries in Madrid and Barcelona. She has combined the rigour of her photographic work with a more playful and free aspect, playing with media and thus approaching other artistic disciplines. Her approach to painting came from there and today her large format paintings, many of them mixed with photography, hang on the walls of many wonderful houses.

Itziar’s work is versatile and touches on many disciplines. She paints following her instinct, with a lot of technical freedom; she designs decorative objects and furniture; she does artistic photography and has also made portraits for cultural institutions and publishing houses; and she creates commissioned work for interior designers and private individuals.

Despite her long career, she is shy to talk about her work, but that does not prevent her from capturing in her series an intimate and sensitive universe, with a very personal look. She does not feel comfortable with the labels of artist and therefore defines herself simply as a lover of aesthetics, light and abstraction, who continues her obsessive search for beauty, harmony and balance. An order that often involves blurring the reality that her artist’s eye manages to see.
